A bath seat that slides around or doesn’t actually hold a wriggling baby securely defeats the purpose, and makes bathtime more stressful than it needs to be. Here’s what to check — and the safety point that matters more than any feature.
What actually matters
- Genuinely non-slip base — suction cups that actually grip, not just ones that look like they should.
- Secure side support — should hold a baby upright even when they lean or reach, not just sit them centrally.
- Easy to clean and dry — mould and mildew build up fast in bath products left damp; look for designs without hard-to-reach crevices.
- Never a substitute for supervision — worth repeating: no bath seat replaces staying within arm’s reach at all times.
Our picks
Overall pick: babove Baby Bath Seat with Thermometer Sticker
A sit-up bath chair for babies 6 months and up with a one-touch button for easy armrest opening and a built-in thermometer sticker to help check water temperature. Strong reviews for how securely it holds an active baby.
Budget pick: Non-Slip Soft Baby Bath Seat with Suction Cups
A straightforward suction-cup bath seat with an ergonomic design, at one of the lower price points in this category while still getting decent reviews for stability.
Best with built-in thermometer: Baby Bath Seat with Thermostat
Includes a built-in thermometer directly in the seat rather than a separate sticker, genuinely useful for consistently checking water temperature without an extra step, and easy to clean.
Best standalone option: Foldable Baby Bath Tub with Stand
A full standalone tub with a foldable stand, ergonomic shape, and non-slip design — worth it if you’d rather not use your main bathtub, or want something portable between rooms.
